Construction of two more RHP apartment buildings started in Croatia

The State Office for Reconstruction and Housing Care organized on 2 November 2015 a ceremony marking the launch of construction works of two apartment buildings in Knin. This event took place less than two months after the successful completion of two apartment buildings in Korenica and handing over of the keys to beneficiary families.

In addition to the Head of the State Office, Ms Mirela Stanic Popovic, who welcomed the guests, the event was attended by representatives of RHP Donors, other RHP Partner Countries and implementing partners, the local community, non-governmental organizations and families of future beneficiaries.

The total cost of the project amounts to some EUR 3.5 million, 75% of which is financed from the RHP Fund resources. The remaining 25% is financed from national contribution which includes the land, cost of design, building of access roads and provision of various utility connections. The construction of the two buildings is scheduled to be completed in November 2016.

In cooperation with the UNHCR, and in accordance with the RHP vulnerability criteria, 40 families have been selected for the future apartments. A large part of the selected families are former tenancy right holders and persons who are currently living in temporary accommodation in the village of Golubic.

The RHP Assembly of Donors has to-date approved 5 projects in favour of Croatia, all of which are currently under implementation.
